International Trade Fair for Logistics, Mobility, IT and Supply Chain Management
ZEDAS GmbH will once again be represented as an exhibitor at the joint stand of the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region at transport logistic 2023.
ZEDAS offers the leading and integrated product suite for the digitalisation of railway processes in logistics and asset management. More than 30 years of railway know-how flow into our products zedas®cargo and zedas®asset - and is thus your innovation engine for railway-specific workflows. With intelligent software for forward-looking logistics management and future-oriented maintenance.
Employees in shunting operations can carry out their tasks mobile, promptly and independently of the central control room. Train arrivals and departures, shunting orders and damaged wagons can be processed on site, order and vehicle parameters as well as the current track occupancy can be called up at any time. The optimized flow of information and data ensures up-to-date operating data and precise billing information. Selected apps have an integrated offline functionality, which temporarily also allows to work independently without a permanent data connection to the control center.
The app zedas®cargo Train Check is the wagon inspector's mobile workplace and supports paperless train dispatch. During train inspection, the pre-booked wagon data is automatically loaded and displayed in the application. For each wagon, the technical wagon master data and any existing commercial load data are retrieved from the central database. The system automatically determines the permitted brake weights and transport restrictions based on the load data.
In order to reduce manual input processes in logistics management, ZEDAS has developed an AI-based wagon number recognition for railway undertakings in freight transport. The Wagon number recognition was integrated into the zedas®cargo Train Check app as a key technology. If the camera is pointed at the wagon area with the UIC number, the AI automatically recognizes and analyzes the text characters and checks the recognized UIC number. With the identified wagon number, the app then calls up the technical wagon master data of the keeper via the GCU Broker (TAF interface) and imports them into the Train Check App.
The app automates many processes, such as entering data, wagon numbers and train compositions and creating wagon lists and brake slips. By using the app, employees can complete and document their tasks on site. At the same time, the control center is informed about the current status in real time at all times.
The Rail Hub is a central data hub within zedas®cargo, which enables professional interaction between the railway undertaking and its customers. All actors are directly involved in the process and information chain.
In the area of long-haul traffic, customers can enter, coordinate and release their transport orders electronically via the customer portal. For this purpose, each partner is provided with the information that is important to him in a clear manner. In addition, the customer can, if desired, view precise information on the arrival time of individual deliveries and track where the ordered shipment is currently located.
In the area of shunting traffic, employees at loading and unloading points can use the Rail Hub to request the delivery or collection of wagons with specific parameters (e.g. track, freight, quantity, etc.) and at a specific time and then convert these requests into shunting orders. Wagon information can also be called up and waybills managed via this platform.
With the technical specifications for interoperability (TSI), the European Union defines Europe-wide standards for interoperable data communication in rail transport. Data exchange based on the new TAF/TAP TSI standard requires the implementation of a Common Interface and corresponding reference files. This represents the technical basis on which various import and export messages (TRIM, TCM, etc.) can be processed. ZEDAS offers its customers a central TAF service that covers the procurement and maintenance costs for the necessary components within the SaaS fee.
With the central TAF service from ZEDAS you have the following advantages:
ZEDAS provides the leading product suite for the seamless connection of logistics management of rail freight transport (zedas®cargo) with fleet and maintenance management (zedas®asset). The automated information flow significantly reduces the need for coordination between the areas.
Data on the individual rail vehicles obtained during the operating process is available for maintenance planning. The condition and load data as well as recorded damage and fault reports enable reliable, load-dependent maintenance planning. Based on the comprehensive database, zedas®asset creates condition forecasts for the vehicles, which in turn form the basis for well-founded investment decisions.
The daily business of railway operations benefits from the increased availability and reliability of the vehicles. Railway production has access at all times to current information on the decommissioning / recommissioning of vehicles and on residual running values for deadlines. Transport tasks can be planned much more efficiently. Operations are less frequently impeded by waiting times or technically related disruptions.
