Assistance-based maintenance with zedas®asset

Digital assistant zedas®asset Touch especially for the railway workshop

zedas®asset Touch helps to digitise the previous paper-based maintenance documentation in the workshop. Repair and maintenance orders are documented directly on the tablet in an ECM-compliant manner. During the processing of orders, material consumption and the completion of maintenance measures are simply reported back on the mobile device. The intuitive user interface, assistance-based workflows and checklists make it easy for even inexperienced workshop employees to enter all necessary data without errors. The goal is to digitise maintenance documentation in simple steps from the very beginning. The entries flow into the zedas® Asset Management System in real time and are available for follow-up orders or operational releases. There are no media discontinuities or duplicate work and no congestion during order feedback.

Benefits:

  • Development of an efficient, digital process chain
  • Optimised range of functions especially for activities in the workshop
  • Low training effort due to assistant-based workflows and intuitive touch operation
  • Real-time access to current data at all times
  • Simultaneous processing of an order by several users
  • Complete and correct database as a basis for meaningful analyses and forecasts

Augmented reality for intelligent maintenance

With the augmented reality (AR) application, the maintenance technician in the workshop is guided step by step through the maintenance process. Clearly defined workflows specify the exact sequence and positions at which the work steps are to be carried out. The AR application also displays the measured values, limit values or circuit diagrams associated with the component being worked on. The workshop employee receives further support in the maintenance process through drawings, documents, photos and videos that are displayed in the context of the maintenance task. The digital assistance system also guarantees that the maintenance technician is specifically pointed to safety-relevant components in order to meet the high safety standards that apply in the railway industry. The AR application helps to increase the reliability of service and maintenance processes and reduce the risk of errors.

Benefits:

  • Clearly defined workflows
  • Component-related safety instructions
  • Additional information at the right time on the right component
  • Intelligent knowledge management
  • Automated ECM-compliant documentation

Smart logistics management with zedas®cargo

AI-supported train dispatching

In order to reduce manual input processes in logistics management, ZEDAS has developed an AI-based wagon number identification system for rail freight transport companies. As a key technology, the wagon number identification has been integrated into the Train Check app of zedas®cargo. Train Check is an easy-to-use app for the paperless train dispatching directly on the train. If the camera is pointed at the wagon area with the UIC wagon number, the AI automatically recognises and analyses the text characters and checks the recognised UIC number. No further symbols such as QR- or barcode are necessary for this. With the identified wagon number, the app then retrieves the technical wagon master data via the GCU Broker (TAF interface) and imports it into the Train Check app.

Benefits:

  • Support for automated train dispatching
  • Workflows and railway processes are standardised and optimised
  • Improved cooperation between wagon technician and dispatcher
  • Sources of error and media discontinuities in manual typing are eliminated
  • Support of workflows - higher efficiency, quality and flexibility

The ZEDAS product suite: Unique synergies in the rail industry

Lean processes through the combination of zedas®asset and zedas®cargo

ZEDAS provides the leading product suite for the seamless connection of logistics management of rail freight transport (zedas®cargo) with fleet and maintenance management (zedas®asset). The automated information flow significantly reduces the need for coordination between the areas.

Data on the individual rail vehicles obtained during the operating process is available for maintenance planning. The condition and load data as well as recorded damage and fault reports enable reliable, load-dependent maintenance planning. Based on the comprehensive database, zedas®asset creates condition forecasts for the vehicles, which in turn form the basis for well-founded investment decisions.

The daily business of railway operations benefits from the increased availability and reliability of the vehicles. Railway production has access at all times to current information on the decommissioning / recommissioning of vehicles and on residual running values for deadlines. Transport tasks can be planned much more efficiently. Operations are less frequently impeded by waiting times or technically related disruptions.
